SALOMON SKIS
X SCREAM
If you’ve been to a ski resort in the last five years, you’ve undoubtedly seen the Salomon X Scream ripping up the mountain. Immensely popular with a broad range of skier, the X Scream has become Salomon’s all-time best seller, pushing the company to the forefront of the industry. Versatility is the cornerstone of the X Scream’s stellar reputation. It’s easy to turn and skis well in virtually every condition. Constructed with a titanium sheet that runs tip-to-tail, the X Scream is stiffer than other all-mountain skis, especially in the tail, springing you out of a turn and without as round a finish. It performs better in the bumps, too. For intermediate skiers itching to ski off-trail, the X Scream facilitates the transition from hardpack to crud and powder with friendly flotation.

POCKET ROCKET
The Salomon Pocket Rocket has made quite a name for itself among today's freeriders. The space-age graphics make you stop and gawk but its performance on the hill is what's most impressive. With tip-waist-tail measurements that dwarf traditional fat skis, and it's typical Salomon soft flex, this ski makes an incredible powder tool and excellent touring ski. Oh yeah, did we mention it has twin tips?

AK ROCKET PILOT
The AK Rocket Pilot is Salomon’s new “big mountain rip machine” and their highest performance Pilot ski. During the last couple of years, the AK Rocket’s availability has been restricted to a few select pros, but now Salomon has revamped the ski with Spaceframe technology, added the Pilot system, and distributed it more widely (though their numbers are still pretty limited). The AK Rocket Pilot is a beefy fat ski and comes in one size only, 195cm. Think of it as a GS powder ski. A few of this ski’s strong suits include awesome stability and grip, powerful edge to edge maneuverability, and a brilliant float in the pow. It’s definitely a ski more at home in open bowls than tight trees and couloirs, preferring to arc long turns at high speed. The Pilot system is a ski and binding sold together. In the case of the AK Rocket Pilot, it comes with an integrated S914 Fis binding.

EQUIPE 10 3V
The Salomon Equipe 10 3V is a slalom race ski to the core. This ski, popular with World Cup and Olympic skiers, has awesome edge grip and makes precise, short, slalom turns. Eastern skiers rave about the Equipe 10 3V commenting on its tendency to sink its teeth into icy snow and not let go. Salomon’s Prolink Y + V technology controls the trajectory of shaped skis better by applying pressure closer to the edges, and it also reduces vibration with a central damping component. The addition of Metaltex also damps the ski for increased stability and smoother ski to snow contact.

CROSSMAX 10 PILOT
The Salomon Crossmax 10 Pilot is designed for advanced/expert skiers who love to carve up the hardpack. The Crossmax, in comparison to the Scream series, is still a forgiving, easy-to-turn ski, but with a quicker turn radius. Designed for precision carving, the Crossmax is a high performance, on-piste ski. Pilot technology is the icing on the cake. A Pilot setup is a ski and binding sold together, and this burgeoning trend in the ski industry was pioneered, in part, by Salomon. The binding is not mounted to the ski in the traditional way with screws and drill holes; rather, it is attached via axes through the sidewalls of the ski, just above the edge. This method reduces the so-called “dead spot” that results from mounting the binding directly to the top of the ski, inhibiting the ski’s natural flex. Unencumbered, Pilot system skis perform better. Because the ski-binding connection is directly above the edge, shifting from edge to edge is quick and easy, and edge grip is nicely enhanced.

SCREAM 10 PILOT
The Salomon Scream 10 Pilot is designed for advanced/expert skiers who ski the entire mountain in all conditions. Scream series skis are easy to turn and ski well in virtually every type of snow. With Pilot technology, they’re even better. A Pilot setup is a ski and binding sold together. This burgeoning trend in the ski industry was pioneered, in part, by Salomon. The binding is not mounted to the ski in the traditional way with screws and drill holes; rather, it is attached via axes through the sidewalls of the ski, just above the edge. Because the ski-binding connection is directly above the edge, shifting from edge to edge is quick and easy, and edge grip is nicely enhanced.

SCREAM 10 PILOT XTRA HOT
The Salomon Scream 10 Pilot Xtra Hot with S914 binding fills a perfect gap between hardpack-oriented mid-fat and pure-powder fat skis. Narrow enough in the waist to rail the groomers and fat enough to float in deep powder and crud, the Scream 10 Pilot Xtra Hot offers one of the most versatile ski shapes we’ve ever seen. It shoots for that elusive target of a true all-mountain ski—and for mountains from powder-choked Alta and Jackson Hole to the ice-ridden East coast, the Xtra Hot hits that mark dead-on. The Scream 10 Pilot Xtra Hot now features Salomon’s Spaceframe construction, which stiffens the ski under the boot and reduces mass at the tip and tail. This dramatically reduces swing weight and livens up the ski. The Pilot system lets the S914 bindings flex freely across the surface of the ski, preventing a dead spot—the length of ski beneath the boot that can’t flex under a traditional binding setup. This free-flex combined with a generous sidecut means this plank can rip the corduroy as easily as it can power through 3-day-old, sun-baked crud.

SCREAM 8 PILOT
The Salomon Scream 8 Pilot w/ S810 Ti bindings brings all-mountain versatility for every day but the deepest of the deep to everyone from intermediates to lightweight experts. Let’s face it, as much as we’d love every day to be a day of snorkeling fresh powder, more often you’re ripping on skied-out hardpack. From slithering through the bumps to arcing big turns on creamy windbuff, the Scream 8 Pilot has the confidence to get you through any situation—and it’s still a capable mid-fat for light powder duty. The Scream 8 Pilot features Salomon’s Spaceframe construction, which stiffens the ski under the boot and reduces mass at the tip and tail. This dramatically reduces swing weight and livens up the ski. The Pilot system lets the S810 Ti bindings flex freely across the surface of the ski, preventing a dead spot—the length of ski beneath the boot that can’t flex under a traditional binding setup. This free-flex combined with a generous sidecut means this plank can rip the corduroy as easily as it can power your off-piste adventures.

1080 TWIN TIP
The Salomon 1080 is the ultimate twin tip ski for the pipe and park. One of the first in existence, the 1080 revolutionized, if not established, the twin tip market. It excels outside the park and pipe, too, performing superbly on groomers, crud, and in powder making this ski a true newschool, all-mountain ski. Bottom Line: The ultimate park/pipe ski that doesn't limit you to just that venue.

ATOMIC SKIS
SL 11
The Atomic SL:11 will perform at its peak under the stewardship of expert racers and aggressive carvers. A generous sidecut and shorter sizes promote rapid response and razor-sharp handling. Atomic’s unique Beta construction utilizes a dome shape which naturally facilitates transfer of energy to the ski’s perimeter. The result is quick edge to edge maneuverability, maximum torsional rigidity, and controlled flex throughout the ski making for a smooth, stable ride. The top sheet has a dimple pattern similar to a golf ball which together with the tip’s distinct shape reduce air friction and increase speed. The SL:11 has its own adapter plate that allows the ski to maintain its natural flex and also enhances edge grip. This plate is designed to be mounted specifically with the Atomic Race 614 binding [ATO0033] lending to the overall precision of this system’s design.

SX:9
The Atomic SX:9 takes the technology to dominate the high-speed berms, turns, gap jumps, and whoop-dees of a skiercross course to the rest of the mountain. This supple, more-forgiving version of the X Games Skiercross champion SX:11 is a carving and cruising oriented ripper that’s incredibly stable and strong underfoot. The SX:9 won’t completely punish you if you get a bit in the backseat, but stay centered and you’ll be laying down the deepest trenches of your life on the corduroy. Featuring Atomic’s B4 Race construction for a super damp and powerful ride, carbon power channels, and a super fast base, the SX:9 will gladly take you to the next level on hardpack snow and ice. Requires either SX 410 or SX 310 bindings, SOLD SEPARATELY. Bottom Line: The extreme conditions of a skiercross course exist right on your hill, and the SX:9 is built to handle them all with ease: moguls, intersecting lines, tight carving turns…even a bit of airtime.

SX:11
The Atomic SX:11 is a race-ready machine designed to generate massive speed over any terrain feature you can build with a snowcat. Forty-foot rollers, three-packs, berm turns, and tables—the SX:11 dominates all. Piloted by 2002 X Games Skiercross champion Reggie Crist, these suckers give you no excuse to blame it on the equipment. Hole shots and photo finishes are yours to claim. Featuring Atomic’s B4 Race construction for a damp and powerful ride, titanium power channels, and a Worldcup racing base, the SX:11 will gladly take you to the next level of speed. Requires SX 614 or SX 412 bindings. BINDINGS SOLD SEPARATELY. Bottom Line: Whether you’re locked in a man-to-man battle to the finish, or ripping turns at Mach Looney on boilerplate, this ski will exceed your expectations.

R EX
The Atomic R ex is a beefy all mountain ski that floats wonderfully in the powder and blows through mashed potatoes and crud with ease. It has enough sidecut and stiffness to carve on corduroy, too, but it’s definitely at its best in off-piste conditions. If you’re a strong skier who spends most of his time off the beaten path but still appreciates the hardpack now and again, then this ski is an excellent choice. Bottom Line: A versatile, fat alpine ski that performs well in powder, crud, or on the hardpack. Peforms better on hardpack than other skis of the same width.

TWEAK
The Atomic Tweak will carve the perfect turn…as you’re shaving a little speed coming into your park’s biggest table in-run. Atomic Freeride Team member Rex Thomas, flaming green hair flying out from under his helmet, wasn’t worried about the Tweak’s ability to stomp a landing as he arced out a huge 180-flare above Superpark 4’s 40-foot quarterpipe. And neither should you worry that this sweet ride will take care of you at your home mountain’s park and pipe. With a Beta B4 profile providing a smooth, damp ride and a light swing weight making spinning about as involved as thinking about it, the Tweak is a talented all-mountain jibber.

SUGAR DADDY
The Atomic Sugar Daddy is perhaps the best Western ski currently made. At a maximum length of 183cm it’s always going to be relatively short and easy to handle, but with a 29m turn radius it’s able to cruise at serious speed without becoming twitchy. The twin Beta cores work to transmit your energy to the outside edge while simultaneously damping vibration. But don’t be fooled by the new school length, the Sugar Daddy is a big-ass ski—99mm under the boot—enough width to float you through the bottomless pow of Alta or Snowbird. This is a ski for serious rippers. The Sugar Daddy requires an Atomic binding, the R 614 Wide Ride

R 11 Beta Puls-Ti
The Atomic R:11 Beta Puls-Ti offers maximum performance in any terrain, from boiler plate to mashed potatoes to pow. An absolute rocket on hardpack, the R:11 Beta Puls-Ti incorporates titanium arms into Atomic’s Beta construction, maintaining a soft longitudinal flex for easy turn initiation combined with incredible torsional rigidity for a powerful edge hold. This translates into one of the best true all-mountain skis in existence. Matched up with Atomic’s Fullflex B4 adapter plate and required Atomic binding, the R:11 gives you a smooth, powerful ride designed for subtle strength—it’s forgiving, yet incredibly stable arcing out long turns at speed. Requires either CR 614 or CR 412 bindings

C 9
The Atomic C:9 Beta Puls with Device:412 binding provides maximum fun with minimal effort for the skier who loves to carve and cruise. Atomic’s Beta Puls technology incorporates Beta Puls arms into the construction, maintaining a soft longitudinal flex for easy turn initiation combined with incredible torsional rigidity for a powerful edge hold—the perfect ingredients of an easy-to-use carving ski. The Atomic C:9 Beta Puls comes with the Device:412 binding mounted to a Fullflex B4 Adapter plate. Allowing the ski to flex without a stiff, dead spot formed by your unmoving boot as in traditional binding setups, the Device:412 binding and adapter plate provide a smooth, even feel with a huge ‘sweet spot’. Stepping into the 412’s is amazingly easy—the force required to clamp down the heel piece is minimal. The two component design offers a non-slip surface for the tip of the pole and also protects the binding from being scratched. Bottom Line: This ubiquitous carver is smooth as silk and better than ever before.

R 9
The Atomic R:9 is a classic featherweight mid-fat ski suited to everything from a lightweight AT setup to cruising the resort in variable conditions. If you just can’t stand the thought of an integrated binding system, the R:9 gives you the choice with a flat ski top to mount whatever binding you’d like. The mid-fat waist provides float in soft snow, and a low-profile tip ensures the max amount of base is covered by your climbing skins on the way back up. Bottom Line: A classic freeride ski with an evolved design.

E 7
The Atomic E:7 is a ski for the beginning to intermediate skier looking for one thing: more fun on the mountain. The wide semi-twintip construction with power channels is your ticket to fun on groomed slopes and the occasional off-piste exploration. The E:7 is distinguished by the ease with which it turns and its tremendous versatility. It’s time to escape the ruts you just can’t seem to break out of on rental gear. Bottom Line: For skiers who want to ski to their potential, and explore more of the mountain.

STOMP TWIN TIP
The Stomp twin tip ski is Atomic’s answer to newschool fervor. This ski fuses freeride girth, 118/88/108, with jib features like twin tips. Boasting numbers like that, the Stomp enjoys long turns in crud, powder, and variable snow interrupted by the occasional, say, kicker or gap jump. That said, this ski is less suited for the park and pipe and ideal for off-piste and backcountry jibbing. The Stomp has its own adapter plate that allows the ski to maintain its natural flex and facilitates edge to edge transfer. The plate is designed to be mounted specifically with either the Atomic CR 614ex or CR 412ex binding lending to the overall precision of this system’s design

The 14mm sidecut is the perfect combination for an off-piste ski—plenty of carving ability while arcing turns on hardpack, but not so much that it becomes difficult to smear huge turns in the fluff. ***T:Nine derives from Title IX, the 1972 amendment that provided equality in women’s collegiate sports, paving the way for women to excel further in all forms of athletic competition—including ripping powder. K2 donates a portion of all T:Nine Series ski sales to Breast Cancer Research.
