The Big Mouth’s titular Big Mouth is a clamp that securely grabs your bike’s frame to hold it in place without you having to remove the front wheel. With this secure bike carrier, all you do is put your wheels in the track, tighten the straps and attach the clamp arm. The Big Mouth self adjusts for whatever bike frame you happen to be carrying, and its dual locking system locks the rack to your car and the bike to the rack, so unless they have a cutting torch or the key, nobody’s getting your bike. Bottom Line: Why bother removing your wheel? Thule Bike Racks. Thule Fat Mouth Rack Mount: The Fat Mouth is the secret behind Thule’s universal mounting systems. The Fat Mouth can adjust to any size bar, be it Thule, Yakima, or a factory-installed rack. This one size fits all design also lends itself to moving rack hardware from one car to another, a super handy feature for families with a variety of outdoor interests. The Fat Mouth can be used with a wide variety of Thule rack hardware, including some bike mounts, ski mounts, and gearboxes. Bottom Line: As easy to use as it is fun to say. Thule Quest Cargo Bag: The Thule Quest Cargo Bag is perfect for someone who needs and extra 13 cubic feet of weather resistant cargo space, just not all the time. The Quest is affordable, easy to use, and will last a lifetime of occasional use. Heavy-duty molded handles let you throw the Quest around with ease once you reach your destination. The Quest attaches to almost any rack, and folds down into its included stuff sack for handy storage under a seat when it isn’t in use. Bottom Line: We could all use a little extra space once in a while. The Thule V2 Bike Rack: The Thule V2 is a high-tech fork mount bike rack designed to cater to your technophile tendencies. The V2 will accommodate any type of disc brake/suspension combination in existence. A single key locks the entire rack down to protect your techy bike investment, and the rubberized open/close cover won’t tear up your hands; that’s your chain and gears’ job. Bottom Line: Holds your high tech bike securely. Thule Criterium Bike Rack: The Thule Criterium bike carrier will save you substantial amounts of fumbling time getting your bike onto the roof. The clamp adjustment dial is down at roof level, since most of us aren’t 8 feet tall, and the rubberized clamp will baby your bike’s frame. When you reach your destination, Thule has equipped the Criterium with a single button release for the clamp, so you can hit the button, grab your bike and hit the trail. The Criterium is also high security, with a double locking system for bike and rack that uses two cylinders to give you added piece of mind when you have to leave the car. Bottom Line: A high-tech car top quick draw holster for your bike. The Thule Evolution 1200 Cargo Box: The Thule Evolution 1200 is perfect to hold skis, snowboards, tents, and anything that smells funky in your car. It won’t do much if the car itself smells, but it will keep 12 cubic feet of stuff safe and secure. The Evolution is as evolved as its name suggests. This cargo box’s mounting system is integrated, adjustable, and lightning fast to attach and detach. The Evolution also has the mind-bendingly cool ability to open on either side; a huge help for mounting and nice for loading, too. Bottom Line: Evolve your rack into a ski box. The Thule Evolution 1600 Cargo Box: Thule’s Evolution 1600 is the fat boy of their box family. The 1600 will carry snowboards and skis under 180cm, and is perfectly suited to camping gear, strollers, and bulky gear you don’t want to wrestle into the trunk. This clamshell cargo box’s mounting system is integrated, adjustable, and lightning fast to attach and detach. The Evolution also has the mind-bendingly cool ability to open on either side; a huge help for mounting and nice for loading, too. Bottom Line: Hauling gear has never been so easy. The Thule Cascade 1500 Cargo Box: The Thule Cascade 1500 may be short and fat, but it won’t get picked last in any gym classes. This clamshell box’s 15 cubic feet of space will swallow up golf clubs, stroller, camping gear, and any other bulky stuff you need to transport. The Cascade’s quick mount system will mount to any factory or aftermarket rack securely with minimal fuss, and its impact resistant locking shell will keep you stuff safe when you aren’t there to protect it. Bottom Line: Join the “chuck it in and go” revolution. The Thule Side Kick Cargo Box: The Thule Side Kick is the smallest rooftop cargo box that Thule makes. This clamshell style box’s shape and size make it perfect for carrying golf clubs and camping gear without monopolizing your roof space. The Side Kick is made of impact resistant polyurethane, and keeps your gear safe and secure with the included locks. The Side Kick will mount to almost any rack system, be it Thule, Yakima, or factory. Bottom Line: A little extra cargo space on your roof. The Thule Playpen Basket: While no playpen invented yet can hold a determined kid, Thule’s Playpen Basket will hold your luggage and outdoor gear quite well. The Playpen comes with universal mounting hardware that will attach to almost any roof rack, and also comes standard with a fairing to keep the wind noise from deafening you. For added versatility, the Playpen has integrated Thule bars that allow you to mount other rack hardware, such as fork mount bike racks, on the outside edges to maximize your carrying capacity. Bottom Line: Great for gear, not for kids. The Thule Playpen Pouch: The Thule Playpen Pouch affords a weather resistant shell to whatever you have in your Playpen Basket. Made of PVC coated nylon with PVC taped seams, the Playpen Pouch isn’t letting anything in short of a full-on hurricane. Nylon straps and buckles make it easy to attach, and compression straps and shaped foam inserts make the Playpen Pouch easy to pack. The Playpen Pouch holds 13 cubic feet of gear. Bottom Line: Damp luggage is no fun. The Thule Hitching Post PRo: The Thule Hitching Post Pro is the standard by which all hitch-mounted bike racks are judged, or at least it should be. The Hitching Post Pro holds 2 bikes in Thule’s patented Sweet Spot cradles, which keep the bikes secure and steady en route. When you take down the bikes and need to get at stuff in your trunk, the arms fold down and the carrier itself folds down out of the way as well. The Hitching Post Pro can also be upgraded for additional security and stability with the Snug Tite Lock [THU0057] and Zip Stick [THU0073]. Bottom Line: The standard by which all other hitch mounts are judged. |
